Air Safaris owns and operates an airfield approximately 8km west of the Franz Josef township and a sales and information office in the Franz Josef town centre. 

Our Grand Traverse scenic flight from Franz Josef provides the best way to experience this glacial environment in its entirety.  The flight includes an incredible view of the mighty Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier and rugged Westland National Park before traversing Mount Cook and the main divide to explore the vast Mount Cook National Park.

Franz Josef Glacier is located on the West Coast of the South Island approximately 1 ½ hour's drive south of Hokitika. The township is surrounded by lush temperate rain forest and pristine snow capped mountains.
